CORONA VIRUS Basic Facts

Contrary to what mass mainstream media would have you assume, coronaviruses aren’t uncharted territory. In fact, human coronaviruses are responsible for 15-30% of common colds each year. COVID-19 is a new disease, caused be a novel (or new) coronavirus that has not previously been seen in humans.  On February 11, 2020, the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses, charged with naming new viruses, named the novel coronavirus, first identified in Wuhan, China, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, shortened to SARS-CoV-2.
As the name indicates, the virus is related to the SARS-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV) that caused an outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2002-2003, however it is not the same virus.
Typically, the mortality statistic (approximately 2.3%) are based on people with other health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, etc.  Also included are people with immune compromising health issues. 
There are some good preventatives to try and adhere to:

Washing your hands thoroughly is one of the most effective preventative measures. Keeping around a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide with a spray top is great for spraying off surfaces, and even hands.
Pathogens love to enter our body through the ears, eyes, nose and mouth, so it is important to keep hands off the face!
Boosting your immune system. There many ways to stress your immune system.  So, here are few ideas to help keep immune system boosted.
Get plenty of rest
Stay hydrated
Try and avoid junk food and processed foods
Eat real foods and plenty of them (fruits, veggies, protein, good fats, nuts and seeds, etc.)
Manage your stress
Minimize alcohol consumption
Avoid tobacco and tobacco smoke
There are also many vitamins, minerals, foods and herbs to help boost your immune system.
Included in this list can be: Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, Probiotics, Garlic, Mushrooms (Reishi, Agarikon, etc.), Oregano Oil, Elderberry, Colloidal Silver, Olive Leaf extract, to name just a few.

As with any illness, talk to your doctor, do your research, and ask good questions before adding in any new product.  There is a lot of misinformation roaming around in the social media world, so try not to panic and be your own best advocate for your and your family’s health
